Software Doesn’t Explain Itself

That’s why we need you—a person with outstanding writing skills, in-depth GIS knowledge, and a talent for making complex ideas clear and accessible. As a technical writer, you’ll help our user community stay up-to-date on our innovative technology and be an integral part of the software design process.

This is a challenging opportunity to use your writing talent to capture best practices, concepts, and methods by authoring technical articles, user documentation, education content, white papers, and more. You’ll collaborate with product engineers, development teams, project managers, support analysts, and others to write about topics that enable our customers to successfully apply ArcGIS in their own work. Being a technical writer also immerses you in an ever-changing software environment of graphics, video, and document management.

Qualifications for these positions vary, but in general we are seeking dynamic individuals who know GIS from the get-go: the concepts, the tools, the workflows. We need people who know how to write clearly, organize information effectively, describe processes accurately, and take complicated things—proposed software designs, existing workflows, GIS concepts, etc.—and explain them clearly and simply.

Put your expertise to use in a new way at ESRI and contribute to the professional growth of the GIS community.
